About

Hello fellow sportscards enthusiasts, my name is Patrick Stoddard

Me (right) and an old friend

My story is similar to many other people in this beautiful hobby. I collected all sorts of sportscards when I was a young boy (mainly baseball, though). Like many others, I rejoined the hobby in early 2020 because… Money, of course. I could not believe I could collect cards I loved and flip them for cash. This is where the title FOMO (fear of missing out) comes into play for the website. Like many others, I fell victim to the FOMO of modern days cards. I had invested much money into modern cards. Then when the eventual crash of the sportscard market came, I was underwater on a lot of my modern cards. I have subsequently sold many of them at a loss and redistributed my assets into vintage, rarer modern, or collecting local Detroit teams and players. The goal of this website is to analyze the sportscard market through the lens of FOMO and help give advice or options to let fellow and future collectors fall victim to FOMO in the sportscards market.

More About Me

I’m a Michigan resident currently attending Oakland University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communications. I am a six-year U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division as a mortarman. After my time in the army, I spent about a year working in the federal government, then finally attending school and getting my degree. I hope this website can be used to inform and entertain visitors of the website, as we can discuss the hobby, we all know and love.
